Efeitos do óleo nas folhas de mangue

Abstract

The effect.s of oil on R. mangle, L. racemosa and A. schaueriana at Baixada Santista, on the coast of the state of São Paulo (Brazil) were studied during a four· year period. The result.s showed a high defo1iation rate, an increase of leaf area and a reduction of grazing percentage for the three spedes. Furthermore, ocher aspeccs conéeming leaf appeareance as color alterations, texture and shape were also obser ved. lt is very important to study the morphological alterations that occur in mangroves in response to oil spills, in order to bring the understanding of how the oil affect.s the ecosystem and so contribute to the implementation of impact evaluátion methodology based on environmental standards.
