Abstract

Results ofbioassays using aquatic organisms to evaluate different toxic substances are presented and discussed. These substances are common in the environment, as heavy metais, pestici-des, industrial effluents and others. CL50 were established for each toxicant. General comments on bioassays, their diversity, objectives and relevance are done, together with recommendations concer-ning their applicability.
