Impacto ambiental do Proconve

Abstract

This paper analyses the effect of the Proconve -Ai Pollution Control Program for Automotive Vehicles on the hght duty vehicles emissions (gasoline and ethanol), on a projected basis until 1999 m the São Paulo Metropolitan Area. The atmospheric emissions were estimated for carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC) and Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) expected with the Proconve enforcement, compared to the uncontrolled case. The estimated gains were 63% for the CO reduction, 50% for HC and 35% for NOx in 1999, which clearly shows the program beneffits to the Brazilian population centers.
