Abstract

This paper discusses the requirements for hazardous wastes landfills in accordance with ABNT Standard 2:09.60 project-"Hazardous Wastes Landfills-Design Construction and Operation Cri teria". To illustrate it, the paper presents a dumping site for industrial waste in Campinas area in which the standard's requirements have not been met. This fact led to the pollution of the neighbouring groundwaters.
